Introduction

St George Potters has served Sydney’s inner and southern suburbs since the early 1960s. We are a community potters group offering membership to experienced potters and we run affordable classes for those who want to try potting. We provide initial training in potting, including handbuilding, traditional wheel-throwing, sculpture and the use of plaster moulds. Some of our students go on to tertiary training in pottery. We provide a complete studio environment for members and opportunities for members to sell their work at local sales.

Pottery Classes

Teachers cater to students at all levels of interest, skill and experience. Our workshop is well equipped. Clay can be bought at the workshop, glazes are shared by all students, and students’ work is kiln fired on the premises. Electric wheels, an extruder, a slab roller, moulds, and a ceramics library are all available to students and members. For more information see the "classes" tab on the menu above.

Members

Membership is open to anyone with some potting expertise. Members are given a key to the workshop and can use it at any time other than while classes are in progress. Access to the studio includes use of the wheels, slab roller, moulds and other equipment. Members can have their work fired for a fee. For more information see the "membership" tab on the menu above.
